A new neighbor gives the family a strange welcome and Lucia needs to warm up to her in-laws, but she’s willing to do what she must for her daughter’s health--until her daughter claims a dead woman visited her and gave her a ring.

The legend of the Guardian of The Mountains haunts Alma. At the thawing edge of the glacier, the corpse of a young woman is found, identified as Marianne Wild, Aurelia's daughter, who disappeared without a trace 40 years ago.

Marianne was murdered, and an investigation begins. Alma is questioned, since she knows things she can't actually know. With an increasing strain on Lucia and Matti's marriage, Lucia plans to escape with her children--but Alma disappears.

Alma has disappeared without a trace. Lucia is convinced her daughter is alive, even though chances of finding her are getting slimmer. She realizes she cannot save her daughter with purely rational thinking.

Two nights have passed since Alma's disappearance. Everyone, including Matti, doubts Alma's survival and the rescue is called off. Lucia continues to search on the mountain. Prochazka confronts Maria with new findings about Marianne.

Maria blames Lucia for Bruno's death and is bent on revenge, luring her into a trap. On the Muttstein, there is a violent struggle between the two women, until the mountain manifests its power. Rotten is in peril.
