Almost two decades ago Bernstein’s Sex Mob made a splash with its witty, often whimsical covers of pop classics, from Prince to James Bond themes, and the band is still swimming against the tide with the best possible taste. This excellent set at the Nevers D’Jazz festival finds the original line-up playing with all the cohesion one would expect from musicians with such a lengthy shared history.
