On her last day before moving to Sonoma, Detective Sarah Linden investigates the disappearance of 17 year-old Rosie Larsen.

Sarah and Holder investigate at the school to figure out where Rosie went after the dance. Richmond is trying to control the political damage from Rosie being found in his campaign car.

The police turn their focus to students at the dance. Stan tries to keep the family together as Mitch is falling apart. Richmond learns who in his staff has been leaking news to the press.

The police seek out new suspects. Mitch and Stan prepare for Rosie's funeral while Richmond looks for new financial backers to shore up his campaign funds.

Bennet, a suspect, gives the police mysterious Super 8 films that Rosie shot. Richmond figures out who the real leak is, and shoots his new TV ad.

The investigation closes in on Bennet as the Larsen family buries Rosie. Richmond prepares for his TV debate, and has a crisis of conscience that could jeopardize his campaign.

The police learn more about Rosie's whereabouts the night of her death. Richmond deals with a negative ad that could derail his campaign while Mitch starts doubting the police investigation.

Sarah and Holder evade the FBI and unearth new evidence. Mitch endangers the boys, prompting Stan to take matters into his own hands. Richmond tries to climb back in the race.

The police are stymied while trying to make an arrest, leading to a shocking realization. Richmond contemplates dropping out of the race. Fed up with the police, the Larsens take action.
