Denise LeBlanc was speared in the chest by a marlin while fishing off the coast of Panama. The nearest medical clinic was at a prison colony on the remote Coiba Island where Denise was stitched up with 20 gauge fishing line and flown to Panama to be stabilized.

Katherine Mayo sustained a separated spine, broken ribs, fractures in her back, a shattered pelvis, and a collapsed lung after being thrown into the inner rail of a race track in January 1998. Her husband was the announcer of the race.

In 2001, 67 year-old Jo Anne Froberg was mowing the lawn around her farm when she was attacked by a swarm of bees. She ran into her house, covered in a thick layer of madly stinging bees, and frantically called 911. When the police car arrived, the officer drove into a bizarre scene: Joanne, covered in stinging, swarming bees, and her other rescuers trapped in their cars, unable to assist her.

On a beautiful September day in Duqoin, Illinois, Jessica Ervin was going for her final jump in a collegiate water-skiing competition. When she hit the top of the 5-foot ramp, everything went wrong. The handle bar caught around her neck, dragging her underwater, severing her epiglottis and ripping the inside of her larynx from its cartilage, filling her throat with blood.

On February 2, 2002 in Columbus, Ohio, officers Todd Bush and Dawn Yoder were working routine duty, helping a stopped motorist. After talking with the motorist, Todd started back to his cruiser. What he didn't realize was that he was being stalked. Surveillance video shot from a block away shows a grey Volvo pulling out of its space and heading directly towards him.

Ken Berg loved to jump. He'd done it more than 1,300 times, often wearing a helmet camera to record the daring antics of his mid-air acrobatic buddies. In September 2001, Ken boarded a plane that would take him over farmland near Charleston, South Carolina. After a 35 second freefall, traveling at 120 miles per hour, Ken went to open his parachute and knew he was in immediate trouble.

On March 3, 2001, the sky in Zepher Hills, Florida was too overcast for beginning skydivers to jump, so a few sky diving instructors decided to do some practice. Pond swooping is an advanced maneuver in which skydivers glide across water and lightly drag a foot to kick up a wake just before landing. To do so, they must be in perfect position under their parachute.

September 11, 2001. At the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, many huddled around their televisions and watched in horror as two hijacked airliners crashed into the World Trade Towers in New York. Then, at 9:43 am, a Boeing 757 jetliner slammed into the southwest wall of the Pentagon, exploding on impact and creating a force field of hurtling debris.

23-year-old Seth Enslow had a worldwide reputation for his daring jumps. Crash after crash, he always managed to get up, and get right back on his bike. On December 23, 1999, on a dirt road in Apple Valley, California, Seth would try to break the world record for motorbike distance, jumping 251 feet.

22 year old Ezra Bias was winding up his day as a driver for Pizza Pipeline in Spokane, Washington. As dusk approached, Ezra was eager to get home to his wife and baby and decided to take a short cut. It was getting dark as he cruised along at 40 miles an hour when a car in front of him ran over a piece of rebar, kicking it up in the air and through Ezra's windshield.
