The Block

With all eight teams from all across Australia arriving in Melbourne it was time to start the elimination rounds. Each night the teams will have 24 hours, $5000 and an inspirational gift each to create a fully renovated and decorated room of their choice.

In another Block first, father and daughter team Larry and Jessie from QLD took on Brad, the miner and his girlfriend, Lara, from Newcastle NSW. Although both starting with a white room the two teams decided to repaint their rooms a different shade of white. While the wall colours were the same the finished rooms were very different

It was VIC vs VIC as Sophie and Dale went head to head with Brendan and Michelle. Tonight our teams must work with the inspirational gift which is a replica mid-century armchair.

NSW brothers Andrew and Mike verses for the first on The Block, mother and son duo from VIC, Rana and Brett. Even with the hometown advantage, Rana and Brett struggled with the size of the room and the colour of their inspiration gift a pink pearl inlaid cabinet.

Tonight the four successful teams get to find out who their competition is for the next 10 weeks. But before they move into The Block theycompete in a series of mad-capped challenges at Melbourne's iconic Luna Park.

Neale Whitaker chooses inspirational pieces for elimination rooms. The furniture from the elimination house is given to the Lighthouse Foundation.

After working and cleaning their houses all night, it's finally time for a hot shower and clean clothes... but there is no hot water on The Block. Sophie's face drops as she realises she won't be able to shower.

Monday Night Shelley Challenge -Work For Your Money AKA Lock and Key. The teams meet Shelley for the first time this series -they need to complete four jobs, each one worth $10k so they can earn some cold hard cash.

Dan wakes the brothers up. Sophie and Dale have a fight about whether to keep the dining room door or not.

Scotty First Workshop Challenge. The teams must design and build a piece of furniture for their week one room.

Brad and Lara get a visit from Scott and Shelley and are left confused about their design and style of their room.

With only 24 hours until the very first room reveal, the teams are under the pump. Theypull out all stops, and all nighters, to finish their rooms on time

Not long after the teams find out that this week is two room week -Master Bedroom and Ensuite (AKA Hell Week), they also get sent on a two day challenge to Sovereign Hill.

After a difficult three rounds of 9 pin, the winners to take home their share of $10,000 are Team 2 -Dan and Dani, Andy and Mike.

All the teams are under the pump trying to get their master bedrooms and ensuites ready for room reveal in a few days time, and all of them are behind schedule.

It's D day for the brothers -trying to get their ensuite back on track. Keith has a go at Dan for trying to do his own electrical work

Shelley Craft takes us through the week that was on The Block starting with the Week One rooms. We find out what the teams think about the judges comments. Scotty joins Shelley as they check on progress for the main bedrooms and ensuites.

Dan and Dani receive their new ensuite basin delivered all the wayfrom NSW during the night... but it's the wrong size and it won't fit.

The teams set off the Newport Railyards for challenge day -their job is to renovate and decorate two portables into living spaces for homeless youths. The portables will be donated to The lighthouse Foundation.

Brad discovers a problem with his roof which is going to set him back at least a day to fix it.

Scot meets the teams at Savers in Brunswick where he tells them that todays challenge is to upholster chairs with fabric found from the clothes at Savers.

It's no power tools day... Sophie and Dale's bench seat for their bedroom arrives and is installed.
