Karla Homolka tells the police her husband Bernardo recorded videos of his assaults on schoolgirls Leslie Mahaffy and Kristen French. Police are unable to find the tapes despite an exhaustive search.

Paul Bernardo’s lawyers find the videotapes of the assaults on Leslie Mahaffy and Kristen French. The tapes reveal Homolka is complicit in the crimes. Unaware of this new information, prosecutors make a controversial deal with Homolka.

Paul Bernardo is convicted of the murders of Leslie Mahaffy and Kristen French and sentenced to life in prison. To the public's horror, Homolka is released after serving just 12 years for her part in the crimes. Today, she walks around as a free citizen.
