Ireland's Greatest Robberies

In the first episode of the series, we examine one of the biggest art thefts in the world in which crime boss Martin Cahill and his gang stole some of the most famous and expensive paintings in the world from the Beit art collection, which was stored at Russborough House, one of Ireland's stately homes, in 1986.

This episode examines the biggest cash robbery in Ireland, in which £26 million was stolen from the Northern Bank in Belfast in December 2004. The raid involved the kidnapping of two bank employees' family members. While they were held hostage, the two bank workers were forced to go in to the Northern Bank and remove as much cash as possible from the vaults.

In this episode, we examine two audacious robberies. The first took place in 1990 in Emily Square, Athy and resulted in the first stand-off between an armed gang and the Gardaí. The other robbery took place in 2009 and involved the kidnapping of a Bank of Ireland employee's girlfriend. The employee was then forced to go into the bank and remove cash from the vaults.

In this episode, we examine two big heists in Ireland. The first took place in 1983 when Martin Cahill robbed the O'Connor's jewellery factory in South Dublin. The second heist took place in 1995 when a gang raided the Brinks Allied Depot in Clonshaugh, North Dublin. After meticulously planning the robbery for months, the robbers got away with £2.8 million, and nobody was ever caught.
