A.D. The Bible Continues

In the aftermath of the crucifixion, Peter struggles with his guilt at having denied Jesus. For those few believers who did stay to see His end, they receive some solace when the corpse is released for proper burial

Jesus' tomb is empty. Pilate and Caiaphas believe the disciples stole the body and search in vain to find it. The disciples flee to Galilee where Jesus gives them their mission.

Zealot revolutionaries try to assassinate Pilate during the festival of Pentecost. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, the disciples start to preach the Gospel. Caiaphas arrests Peter and John.

Pilate avenges the murder of a Roman soldier with mass crucifixions. Caiaphas fails to convict Peter and John. The church grows, attracting some with impure intentions who are punished by the Holy Spirit.

Peter and John are arrested again, but survive a second trial thanks to the aged priest Gamaliel. Young Christian, Stephen, is stoned to death for his cries against the Temple.

When Saul starts his persecution of the church, Peter feels the pressure of having to look after Jesus's flock. Caiaphas's position comes under threat from both Antipas and his own family. Pilate plays them all against each other.

Saul's persecution intensifies as he targets Peter. Many flee the city, spreading the Word as they go. With Jerusalem in chaos the Roman Emperor arrives to decide Pilate's fate.

Saul continues to hunt Peter, but has a life changing vision on the road to Damascus. When Claudia's nightmares come true, Pilate's fate takes a turn for the worse.

Saul arrives back in Jerusalem, where he meets with Peter and the disciples. They eventually agree to welcome him into the church. Caligula orders a statue of himself to be placed inside the Temple, a law which sends the nation into turmoil.

James the Just arrives in Jerusalem and strikes up a truce with Caiaphas on behalf of the church. For his own safety, Saul has to be sent away from Jerusalem by the other disciples and Tabitha is beaten and Joanna imprisoned.

James confronts Caiaphas and wins concessions for the disciples. The Zealot army grows but their Ethiopian backer turns to Jesus. When Peter resurrects Tabitha many more are drawn to His message.

Emperor Caligula's statue arrives and draws everyone to the battleground of the Temple. The disciples stand firm on Jesus message and Cornelius becomes the first Roman convert.
