Garda Down Under

Meet some of the former Gardaî (from Ireland) now working in Western Australia. Peter Crosbie from Dublin, works as a forensics officer; Michael Henderson from Cork, stationed in Kununurra for the last 4 years; Martin Mitchell, previously based in Limerick city, undergoing a 13 week training before joining the WA police force; And Joe Connolly is a young ex-Garda from Tallaght, Dublin.

It’s the height of Summer and while the heat takes its toll on some, others celebrate Christmas Aussie style: Michael heads to the outback to locate the driver of an abandoned car; Joe celebrates his first Christmas in Perth at the beach; Peter investigates a break-in at a local factory; Martin visits Perth’s only specialist Irish food store and Ciaran, a detective, is tracking down a stolen car.

We go house hunting in Perth, fly over the Outback, and one of the cops face a life or death drama. Michael is detailed to pick up a prisoner; Joe is moving house and is on patrol when he is called to the scene of a shooting; We meet Rachel McCallum, a former PSNI officer; Martin completes his police training and receives his police badge and Detective Cleary togs out for the local cricket team.

In this episode one of our ex-Gardaí has his first day on the job in Perth, on of them gets involved in an impromptu community sports night, and one of them is preparing for a big Paddy’s Day gig.

This episode boasts a health crisis, a car-jacking and a surprise family visit. Michael and his fiancée, Sarah, deal with a medical emergency; Joe flies home to the surprise of his family; Peter is called to the scene of a car-jacking and meets up with fellow Irishman, Detective Cleary who’s in charge of the crime scene; Martin moves to a new house, and ex PSNI McCallum encounters a drunk driver.

In the final episode, Joe is reunited with his dog, Riggs after spending €6000 bringing Riggs to Australia and having the dog quarantined for a time; Ciaran makes an alarming find during a drugs search and Michael and Sarah finally tie the knot with a spectacular wedding on the Indonesian Island of Bali.
