Rio City of Sport

We explore the passion for football that exists in Rio, from kids living in poor neighborhoods, through to Rio's top flight clubs including Flamengo and Fluminense.

We go surfing, kitesurfing and play beach volleyball with both youngsters and professionals who live and train in the city, for high adrenaline sports action.

The episode delves into Rio's gutsy extreme sports scene including BMX, skateboarding and inline skate, seeing where town planners have accidentally created an urban sports paradise.

Rio: City of Sport enters the gyms and studios of Rio to discover a plethora of combat sports from amateur to Olympic level, including Boxing, Judo, Capoeira, Taekwondo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

The city's proximity to the forest has enabled extreme sports to flourish including downhill mountain-biking, rock-climbing, downhill skateboarding, paragliding and hang-gliding; all of which feature in this episode.

The episode looks at the numerous exciting Olympic sports that will feature in the 2016 Games as well as the athletes who are preparing to compete, including Golf, Rugby 7s, synchronised swimming, judo, rowing and track and field.
