The Golden Swan

Hiding from the police, Bara slips into The Golden Swan--a prestigious department store with problems of its own.

On the same day that Czechoslovakia is occupied by Germany, The Golden Swan opens its doors. Operating under a false identity, Bara decides to hold on to her position at the Swan.

Bara looks to regain the trust of those she’s come to care about after she is betrayed. The Kucera family looks for a strong business partner when the Germans come to Prague.

To protect the family's property and status, Petr is expected to marry the bride chosen for him. His heart, however, is pulling him elsewhere.

The woman whose identity Bara has been using is wanted by the Gestapo. Bara feels that she must help this woman and goes to Petr for help.

Petr overlooks Marketa's faults to help Bara, whom he cares for more and more. Lukas’ drinking is getting out of control. Alena is in love--but no one knows with whom.

Bara faces an exam that will allow her to stay at the Swan. She dutifully prepares, but everything changes when Marek appears.

Marketa would like a child with Petr. She pushes for the wedding, but she herself seems to be hiding something.

Bara discovers that the stolen jewels are hidden in the Swan, but no one except Marek knows where. Petr suspects that Bara has returned to her thieving past.

The nun who took care of Bara in the orphanage comes to the Swan. Marek takes advantage of this and reminds Bara of a past she would like to forget. Meanwhile, Lukas finally clears his name.

Marek is gone, but the Germans have taken an unpleasant interest in the Swan. Irena tries to resolve the situation.
