Poirot investigates the brutal murder of an American heiress and the theft of a magnificent ruby, the Heart of Fire, as he travels on the glamorous Blue Train between Calais and the French Riviera.

The enigmatic, sinister Mr. Shaitana, one of London's richest men, invites 8 guests, 4 of them possible murderers and 4 sleuths to his opulent apartment for an evening of dinner and bridge. When he is murdered, Poirot deduces that one of the guests is the culprit--and finds that four guests have murdered before.

A young widow is left in sole possession of her late husband's fortune, but her domineering brother refuses to let her share it with her in-laws. The family of the dead man enlists Poirot to prove the widow’s first husband might not be dead after all.
