Twelve aspiring chefs and restaurateurs compete to impress internationally-acclaimed chef Gordon Ramsay as he works to open a world-class restaurant in Los Angeles and discover the country's next culinary star.

After barely surviving the opening night of the Hell's Kitchen restaurant, the heat is on as the contestants prepare for their second dinner service. To prepare, both teams must participate in a squid-cleaning competition as Ramsay overlooks with his watchful eye.

The third night in the kitchen finds the remaining chefs cracking under the pressure of Gordon Ramsay and his hot temper. As the budding chefs prepare for their third dinner service, the pressure of Hell's Kitchen is too much for one of the contestants, who chooses to leave and hang up their apron for good.

The players attempt to re-create Gordon's signature dishes for a discerning crowd at a Los Angeles eatery.

Tensions in the kitchen rise during an all-Italian night at the restaurant, where one of the teams plays dirty and another makes a move that throws everyone for a loop.

In the first half of this two-hour special, the contestants prepare for their sixth dinner service while Chef Ramsay reveals the latest twist: Each team will create its own menu consisting of three appetizers, entrees and desserts. Egos and tempers reach a boiling point as the chefs hustle to get their dishes up to Ramsay's impeccable standard and out to the hungry guests in a timely manner.

In the final part of this two-hour special, the five remaining contestants learn that they're no longer competing as teams but as individuals who must work together - and against one another - to complete an entire dinner service.

The four remaining chefs are given fifteen minutes and a tray of leftovers to create a meal that Chef Ramsay considers servable. The winner of the challenge is rewarded with a chance to cook on a live national television show alongside Ramsay.

Chef Ramsay orders the three remaining contestants to serve an entire dining room. Who will create the best dish and who will be sent home without their just desserts?

In this season finale, Chef Ramsay's final two competitors try to impress the chef during a simulation that tests their abilities to run a restaurant. In addition, the eliminated chefs return to play parts in the challenge.
