61 years is the average age of those responsible for farms in Spain. A generational change is coming because young people are taking over. Many of them are changing the processes and use the latest technical advances to do what their grandparents or parents did, but in a more respectful way with the environment.

The way we move is gradually changing towards more sustainable transport modes. The alternatives available are growing and we are increasingly used to live with electric vehicles, scooters, bycicles and shared cars. Very interesting innovative iniciatives are beginning to emerge in some towns to offer more sustainable ways of moving for people living in rural areas.

The housing is one of the main weaknesses of rural environment but, at the same time, it is a great opportunity. In the last decades, many homeowners have rehabbed their houses for the rural and sustainable tourism, highly valued sector in Castilla y León, which is becoming increasingly important due to the growing arraival of the so-called "digital nomads".

The "green employments" ara a niche for job creation in the future and a great opportunity for many people. The renewable energies, the ecologic agriculture, the sustainable mobility , the new tourism or the recycling, will create thousands of job posts in the following years. Educate to new professionals will be essential to give response to the increasing demand, specially in the rural areas.

Spain counts with around 2,600 of sunny hours each year. Within the 365 days, there are 300 days of sun, five times more than the United Kingdom. This makes Spain a country with a higher potential to generate photovoltaic energy. How this affects to the countryside? Which solutions are being implemented in the rural areas? How it contributes to territory vertebration?
