It’s Pauline’s last day as a school crossing guard, but no one seems to care, least of all her husband, “silent Ken.” A retirement present comes from a surprise source.

To her daughter Heather’s dismay, Pauline embarks on a self-improvement program that includes new hair, a new outfit, and potentially, even a new man.

Desperate for cash, Pauline’s oldest son, Kevin, makes some bad decisions, and the news that she’s pregnant leaves Heather in despair.

Pauline’s sister, Rowan, fears she will lose her granddaughter and perhaps the man in her life too. Pauline’s son Martin and his wife, Michelle, have news for the family.

Pauline and Ken find marriage counseling as horrific as they imagined. Martin and Michelle have to come clean with each other about their own marital arrangements.

Ken realizes what he must do to win his wife back. As Pauline ponders what to do, it’s also decision time for the other members of the Paradise family.
