Race For The Future

James sets sail from England's south coast and quickly confronts the harsh realities of fossil fuel-free travel. He cycles through France, herds sheep in Paris, and dives for toxic waste in the Atlantic. Misadventures lead him astray in the Pyrenees Mountains, and in Madrid he's goes back to school (for civil disobedience), but a rule-breaking road trip leaves James stranded in rural Spain.

James races to Seville and sets sail on a century-old ship bound for South America. He trawls for climate-critical plankton, explores sustainable farming in Tenerife, and is swept from the mast by an Atlantic storm. With the UN Climate Conference abruptly relocated from Chile to Madrid, James faces a pivotal choice: turn back or press on to Santiago.

James defies the odds on his journey to Chile with a forbidden shortcut to Buenos Aires, an unprecedented electric road trip across the continent, and a gruelling cycle over a 12,500-foot Andean pass. The climax unfolds in Santiago where amidst massive protests James takes centre stage amplifying youth voices at the Climate Festival whilst a surprise visitor presents the film at the UN.
