Ranch to Table

Elizabeth and her friend Katie have known each other all their lives. Normally, they catch up while getting work done on the ranch. But today Elizabeth is bringing dinner to enjoy together. For the occasion, she makes gnocchi and creme brûlée.

After a historic amount of rain, Elizabeth Poett and a crew of friends and family have tons of projects they need to do to get the ranch back in shape. To say thank you for the help, Elizabeth cooks the crew French dip sandwiches and magic layer bars.

While Austin is away at a bull sale, Elizabeth and the boys enjoy a slow morning. On days like these, Elizabeth loves making a special breakfast for them. Today she's making some of their favorites: ableskivers and a rustic baked egg dish with salsa.

As a seventh generation cattle rancher, Elizabeth comes from a close-knit family. Whenever they can, Elizabeth and her mom get together to enjoy a casual lunch. Today, Elizabeth is making some of her mom’s Italian favorites: chicken parm and cannolis.

Sometimes the best meals are simple ones enjoyed at home with family. Today it's a cozy weeknight on the ranch and Elizabeth is making pear and gorgonzola pizza, as well as a rustic garbanzo bean soup with chili oil for the boys.

Elizabeth's family is originally from Spain, and she has long felt connected to Spanish culture and food. Today, one of her best friends is visiting the ranch, and to celebrate, Elizabeth cooks a Spanish-inspired dinner with paella and churros.

It’s one of the busiest times of the year on the ranch. Elizabeth and Austin are headed out with a crew to gather cattle. As a thank you to everyone who helps out, Elizabeth makes carnitas with homemade tortillas and fudgy caramel brownies.

Austin and Elizabeth are hosting a graduation party for Austin’s cousin and friends. For the party, Elizabeth makes butterflied barbecued chicken with a peach barbeque sauce and mocha whoopie pies with peanut butter filling.

Elizabeth and her family love to camp at their favorite ranch spots. Tonight, Jack and Hank have friends over, and Elizabeth is cooking their favorites. She makes the most of honey and strawberries, serving up burgers on honey buns and strawberry cake.

The 14,000 acre Rancho San Julian in Santa Barbara, CA is steeped in history. At the center of it is the headquarters building known as the Casa. Elizabeth cooks in its kitchen, making rolled flank steak and a cheesecake to enjoy at a dinner with friends.
