Rasputin

Swieten gets down to investigating and comes to know the life of Rasputin in minute detail. After Rasputin steals a horse, he is badly beaten in his hometown. He sets off on a pilgrimage, where he first realizes his healing powers. In a monastery along the way, Rasputin heal's the Grand Duchess's severe headaches. She invites him to Petersburg.

Being unable to think of any explanation of his gift, Rasputin makes up his mind to leave the monastery. The Father Superior sends him to an old man Antip. The old man tries to kills Rasputin, assuming that his divine power has come not from God, but the Devil. Swieten tells Kerensky about his plan to nail Rasputin. Rasputin arrives in Petersburg, where Father John of Kronstadt receives him.

Anna tells Swieten how high-ranking people started turning to Grigory for help. Not only did he cure them from infertility and illnesses, but also saved their souls. A lot of ladies let him have sexual relations with him, considering it a holy blessing. Grigory started to get dangerous enemies; the sect-members whom he refused to help decide to kill him.

At last, Rasputin finds himself at His Majesty's. He saves his son from hemophilia attacks. Yusupov and Dmitry are forcing Purishkevich to get involved in the plot against Rasputin.

Felix entices Rasputin into his place on false pretenses. The rest of the plotters are already waiting for them, with poisoned food on the table. The plotters beat him near to death, but Rasputin survives. Rasputin attempts to escape, but is finished off by a mysterious man in the street. Swieten manages to send Maria and Anna abroad before it's too late.
