"The Yearling" is based on Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings' Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name. In 1870s Florida, lonely 12-year-old Jody (Will Horneff, "The Sandlot") convinces his parents to let him have a pet fawn. Jody forms a loving bond with the animal and must choose between familial duty and his love for the pet after the fawn starts eating the struggling family's crops.
