Dissatisfied housewife Linda Henry (Theresa Russell) has become tired of her husband's (Christopher Lloyd) obsession with model trains, and chooses to reminisce about the painful experience of giving up her son for adoption when she was a teenager. One day Linda is approached by a young British hitchhiker named Martin (Gary Oldman) and he eventually tells Linda that he is her long lost son.
