Weakest Beast

Four people sit together at a bar named 5Tap. Boyfriend and girlfriend Kyoya and Akira, accountant Kosei, and Kureha, a newlywed. As they all come together to celebrate Kureha’s marriage, Akira reflects on her relationship with Kyoya and her own thoughts on marriage. By chance, she crosses paths with Kosei at the same bar again the next day, and then the floodgates open. ©NIPPON TV

Akira is fed up with the status quo and demands changes in the workplace. She then takes some well needed time off, but her plans are quickly interrupted when she’s asked to track down a colleague who has gone AWOL with a critical contract. Meanwhile, Kosei faces a moral dilemma as he is pressured to approve some clearly altered tax documents. ©NIPPON TV

Akira’s complaints have suddenly landed her a promotion to “Special Chief Creator,” but she finds herself unable to voice her frustrations to Kyoya, who is already drained from dealing with the chaos caused by his ex. Meanwhile, Kosei’s day takes a sharp turn when his uncle unexpectedly shows up at the office with news that his long-lost brother has been spotted in Tokyo. ©NIPPON TV

Tensions rise when Akira and Kyoya clash over the fact that he’s still cohabiting with his ex, Shuri. Any attempts for reconciliation made by Akira are left ignored. Later, Akira discovers that Kureha is in possession of Kyoya’s phone, and when she goes to retrieve it, a shocking revelation prompts Akira to rush to Kosei’s workplace. ©NIPPON TV

The time has come for Akira to finally confront Shuri, but her emotional pleas for staying at Kyoya’s place remind Akira of their stark differences. Meanwhile, Kosei is reeling from a beating at the hands of Kyoya for having spent the night with Akira. Kureha catches Akira and Kosei in the middle of a kiss, Kosei uncovers a disturbing rumor about Kureha’s marriage, and Kyoya finds himself unable to tell Akira that he has moved out of his apartment. Shuri discovers an old New Year’s card addressed to Kyoya and plans to show it to Akira, but her plans change when she crosses paths with Kosei drinking with friends at 5Tap. ©NIPPON TV

Akira is shocked when she finds Kosei in possession of a large sum of money. When pressed for answers, he cryptically relates it to a case of blackmail right out of the movies. Meanwhile, Kyoya’s father’s health takes a turn for the worse, sparking a heated family debate over whether to keep him in hospital. Eager to improve the workplace, Akira starts interviewing new candidates only to find Shuri walking in for the job. Meanwhile, Kosei struggles to make progress on taking Kureha’s husband’s company public as the elusive man keeps cancelling their meetings. Akira’s hard work is paying off, but everyone is stunned when she is promoted to Special Chief Creator Manager. Eyebrows further raise when Shuri is subsequently promoted to be the secretary. After a night of shared heartache, Akira and Kosei are left more confused than ever. They head to 5Tap to resolve things once and for all, only to have their heartfelt exchange interrupted. Meanwhile, Kureha takes decisive action to prevent furthur turmoil the article has caused.
