Supporting Actor

Aki Kurki is a talented, hard-working and outspoken actor who cannot understand why he has not succeeded more in his career and is stuck in only supporting roles. Aki's best friend is his sunny agent Hannu, who wishes everyone well and success. While doing background work for a small psychic role, a real fortune teller tells Aki, that there is a curse on him that prevents him from succeeding.

Ronja is Aki's ex-spouse and the mother of their daughter, Aada. Ronja assures Aki that she has not cursed him, but believes that her mother might have. Ronja's mother, Mirja, a devout Christian, admits to praying for Aki to get what he deserves, because when Aada was born a few months premature, instead of coming to Ronja's aid, Aki travelled across the Atlantic to hunt for roles in Hollywood.

Aki's been a mentor to former actor student Benjamin, who now works as a successful actor. He is first on Aki's list, as Aki stole a major film role from him 20 years ago. The ranking is influenced not only by the seriousness of Aki's act but also by the target's attitude to all things supernatural.

Eerika is Aki's ex-girlfriend who now works as a costume designer for a daily TV soap show. Aki, who despises daily shows, takes a role in the show just to get close to Eerika. While trying to find out her possible involvement in the curse, the two of them are drawn back into a relationship. Soon Aki is so in love that he no longer cares about the curse.

Thalia is the Greek goddess of comedy and poetry, known as the patron saint of the theatre. Aki once worked briefly as a director at a provincial theatre, whose employees believed in the many superstitions of the theatre world and Aki was on a collision course with them from day one. Eventually, Aki had enough and broke all the sacred rules of the theatre with the aim of proving their absurdity.

Junne is a Sámi shaman who lent his precious handmade drum to set of a dystopian film in which Aki starred in. Aki broke the drum during filming, after which Junne uttered fateful words to Aki. Aki and Aada set out to find Junne, and during the journey, Aada, inspired by her father's colourful stories, reveals that she has begun to consider a career in acting.

Tapsa the fortune tells urges Aki to take a piece of jewelry that belongs to Aada clothing so that he can take a psychometric reading of it and thereby find out if Aada is Aki's curser. When Aada realises that Aki suspects her of putting a curse on him, she becomes furious with him, and father-daughter relationhip is once again severed.

Jutta is the midwife who once helped bring Aada into the world. As Aada was born premature and Aki was off trying his luck in Hollywood, Jutta became Ronja's trusted help and friend. Jutta meets Aki at Aada's birthday party. Aki has started to regain a foothold in his daughter's life.
