The Sound Ninja Four race toward Orochimaru’s lair with Sasuke in hand.

Naruto and the others are trapped in Jirobo’s Earth Dome Prison.

Freed from the Earth Dome Prison, Shikamaru and the others take off after the remaining Sound ninja while Choji stays behind.

It looks as if Choji may win the battle, until Jirobo transforms into Second State, giving him immense power.

Assuming that the Leaf squad could never get past Jirobo, the remaining Sound ninja don’t bother to lay traps along the way.

Neji takes on Kidomaru while the others continue their pursuit of Sasuke and the remaining Sound ninja.

Kidomaru changes tactics and creates a bow and arrow to attack Neji’s blind spot.

Naruto, Shikamaru, Kiba and Akamaru are in hot pursuit of Sasuke and the Sound ninja.

Akamaru sets explosives in the trees to trap Sakon.

Shikamaru is determined to stop Tayuya. Meanwhile, on the plains, the battle between Kimimaro and Naruto is about to begin.

Ukon, who is able to infiltrate the bodies of others, enters Kiba’s body and tries to merge with his cells.

An injured Kiba and Akamaru barely escape from Sakon and Ukon. Naruto is locked in battle with Kimimaro...

Shikamaru succeeds in trapping Tayuya with his Shadow Possession Jutsu. But Tayuya fights back with enormous strength.

With Rock Lee there to take on Kimimaro, Naruto is free to chase after Sasuke, who has awakened.

Shikamaru, Kiba, and Lee are at the limits of their strength when Gaara, Temari, and Kankuro appear to assist their Leaf allies.

Kimimaro realizes that close combat is impossible against Gaara’s wall of sand, so he moves further away for a long-distance attack.

Kimimaro succeeds in shattering Gaara’s protective sand shield and attacks Gaara. Naruto finally catches up to Sasuke...

With the Curse Mark covering half his body, Sasuke is no longer the Sasuke of old.

Naruto tries desperately to change Sasuke’s mind, but Sasuke is determined to go to Orochimaru.

Naruto is brought down by Sasuke’s Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu, a jutsu passed down through generations of the Uchiha family.

Sasuke quietly watches as Naruto sinks deeper in the water. He recalls the past, when the Uchiha clan was cruelly slaughtered.

Kakashi uses his Summoning Jutsu and sends ninja dogs to track Naruto and Sasuke.

Naruto releases his Nine-Tail chakra and sends Sasuke flying. Sasuke counters with his Fire Style Jutsu, but Naruto extinguishes the flames easily.

Naruto’s Nine-Tail chakra seems to move with a will of its own as it counters Sasuke’s powerful attacks.
