n Périgord Noir, Domme overlooks the Dordogne river from a limestone cliff. Founded in 1281 by Philip the Bold during the Albigensian Crusade, this royal bastide has a rich history and traces of the Knights Templar. In 1307, after the arrest of the Templars, many were imprisoned in the gate tower, where they engraved striking graffiti while awaiting judgment and execution, still visible today.
