Everything is well with the Aloka family—Benjamin and Noé start eighth grade, mother Sali is job hunting, and dad Paul runs a flower shop—until Paul’s dad arrives unexpectedly, prompting Benjamin to ask a question that changes everything.

Paul and Sali agree to help Benjamin meet his birth parents, while Noé struggles to live in Benjamin’s shadow. Paul feels backed into a corner with his dad and Sali juggles job interviews, her bond with Benjamin, and her own mother.

When Benjamin receives disappointing news from his birth parents, he spirals out of control. Not having luck in her career, Sali reaches out to an ex who’s a recruiter. Meanwhile, Paul takes in Lazare, which quickly proves to be exhausting.
