The serie explores the history of French kings from the 15th to the 19th centuries, focusing on how each monarch ruled, their specific traits, skills, achievements and failures. It also raises broader questions about governance and humanity: can a ruler balance personal life with political duty, what obstacles did these kings face, and what defines a 'good king' across different eras?
