Award-winning director David Gordon Green, gives Academy Award winner Nicolas Cage his best role in years as the hard-living, hot-tempered, ex-con Joe Ransom. Joe hires teenaged Gary Jones and his destitute father to help out his tree-poisoning crew. While Joe might be notoriously reckless with his pick-up, his dog and especially with women, he sees something in Gary that gets to him.
