We follow series veterans Shane and Shelley, roaming through the busy night time action in the heart of Brisbane. A call comes in reporting a possible hit and run - it's classified as a code 1-A the most serious emergency. Multiple emergency crews converge on the scene, Car 5122, Shane and Shelley, are the first paramedics to arrive at a hit and run incident.

Since the onset of the COVID19 pandemic the number of mental health calls the Queensland ambulance service receives has increased by 15%. These sorts of calls are coming in thick and fast, a man claiming to have jumped off Brisbane's story bridge. We see the effects this has on the professionals racing to piece together a puzzle to try and save a life.

The EMD's at Brisbane's operation centre are again under the pump from the start of their shift, with calls averaging two per minute. Call taker Ana must cut through the screams of a panic-stricken mother to find the facts, leaving her emotionally drained.

Episode Four meets three emergency personnel at Queensland Ambulance Service, each at different stages of their career, all driven to save lives. Trainee Call taker Melissa is learning to take her first triple zero calls under mentor Harrison.

It's off to a quiet start to the day at the Brisbane Operation Centre, although call taker Harrison fears this is the calm before the storm.  And sure enough, it quickly becomes a busy day at the office. A call comes in from a man whose friend has overdosed on heroin, Critical Care Paramedic Rachael is called to back up a paramedic team who are assigned to the case.

We see the disparity of jobs Queensland Ambulance Service treats on the dreaded Friday night shift. An incident occurring on 100 kilometres an hour freeway forces a caller and EMD to investigate exactly what has happened to unravel the mystery of the emergency and assess a patients injuries.

When a bystander calls in a nasty motorbike and sidecar crash, it's all systems go, with Queensland police, Emergency Services and other Paramedics racing to the scene. They team up to ensure both patients are taken safely to hospital from this hectic life-threatening situation.  A call comes in for a 33-year-old woman who has fallen off her balcony while trying to retrieve her friend's cat.

As the early morning shift starts in Brisbane, call takers and paramedics alike are fuelling up for the day ahead with breakfast, ready for action, and it comes soon enough. A bystander calls in a crash in the heart of Brisbane CBD, involving a motorcyclist and taxi.  Paramedics Lucy and Eliza arrive to find patient Hector face down on the road, not moving.
