McMillan & Wife

Mac’s (Rock Hudson) mother, Beatrice (Mildred Natwick), arrives in town to help old crony Andy Kenesaw (William Demarest) celebrate his birthday. At the party, an attempt is made on Andy’s life.

Commissioner and Sally McMillan (Rock Hudson and Susan Saint James) attend a party honoring his friend, French Police Inspector Jacques Arnaud (Henry Darrow) and his young bride, Maggie (Susan Sullivan), in spite of, and unconcerned about, rumors circulating that a contract has been put out on Mac by syndicate boss Raymond Poole (Alan Manson).

The McMillans (Rock Hudson and Susan Saint James) discover their house holds an old secret when an earthquake reveals a very dusty skeleton in their fireplace.

Sgt. Enright (John Schuck) makes a surprise move by resigning from the police force and announcing his wedding plans.

Commissioner McMillan (Rock Hudson) is the only witness to a homicide committed in a hospital but the absence of evidence casts doubt on whether the crime really took place.

Mildred’s (Nancy Walker) sister, Agatha (Martha Raye), arrives in San Francisco to await the passing of their Aunt Wilhelmina (Louise Lorimer). With the exception of Mildred and Agatha, those close to Wilhelmina are anxious for her death as they expect a nice inheritance from the wealthy old woman.

Mac (Rock Hudson), who has not practiced law since becoming police commissioner, returns for his annual naval reserve duty with the Judge Advocate General Corps and is assigned to defend a young lieutenant on a homicide charge.
