The Milton Berle Show made its way from radio to television in 1948. Berle brought his vaudeville slapstick and outlandish costumes to the show, which he structured as a variety show based on his vaudeville acts. After Berle's show began, TV set sales more then doubled securing the nickname "Mr. Television."
