Criminologist Himura and Mystery Writer Arisugawa

A series of random attacks targeting young women takes place in Osaka. Based on a note that was left with the third victim, Himura and Arisugawa see a resemblance between this crime and a popular TV game.

The body of a young man is found at a hotel. A creepy man with a bandaged face was seen there the day before. Guessing the man as a suspect, the police begin their investigation.

An actor has been abducted and is being held for ransom. His wife receives a phone threat in which she alleges to the police that she heard his voice, but then later, learns that he was already dead when the phone threat was made.

The CEO of a jewelry shop is murdered. Seeing the body and the circumstances of the crime scene, Himura thinks something is not right.

A celebrity, Yura, is murdered in her locked room. Her boyfriend Masahiko asserts that a suspect must have the key to the room as Yura had lost it the day before the crime. But for intuitive Himura, something doesn't feel right with Masahiko's story.

After receiving a suspicious phone call from an unknown caller, Himura and Arisugawa find a body at a condominium. With the scent of perfume lingering, they deduce that someone was there until just before their arrival.

Given that all three murder cases which occurred around Akemi must be connected, and hoping to find more clues, Himura and Arisugawa go to where the second murder took place.

Two members of Shangri-La, a radical group, are murdered in Tokyo and two teenagers are murdered in Kyoto. Rumor has it that a high schooler, Sakamata, aka Apollon is the perpetrator. The photos of four different crime scenes portray something significant.

Arisugawa is taken hostage by Shangri-La so Moroboshi can lure Himura to Arisugawa's location.

Moroboshi enjoys the thrill of betting on death, fueling the murderous intent that Himura suppresses. Himura responds to the "game of death" set up by Moroboshi.
