The Purple Turtle - Children's Nursery Rhymes

Mulberry Bush - Purple and his friends share their morning routine. They wake up early in the morning, play around the mulberry bush, wash their clothes and iron them.  

Grand old Duke - Purple and his friends meet the grand old Duke who has one thousand men. He makes them march up and down the hill. Purple and his friends enjoy watching it and start enacting the same way. Purple becomes the grand old Duke and Zing and Biggy his men marching up and down.

Ding Dong Bell - Purple and Zing sees a pussy cat in the well. When Purple asks who put it in, Zing says it's little the thin little boy Tommy. When he asks who put the cat out, Zing says it's another little boy Tommy who isn't thin but stout. Purple feels sorry for the cat and says Tommy shouldn't have done this to the poor cat, who does no harm but eats the mice in the barn.

Once I caught a fish alive - Purple Turtle once caught a fish alive but had to let it go. When his friend Zing asked why he let it go, Purple Turtle said he did so because it had bit his little finger on the right hand. Then he caught a crab alive but had to let it go because it too bit his little finger on the right. Next, one of Purple's friend caught an eel alive but she too had to let it go.

London Bridge - Purple and Biggy builds the London Bridge, but it crumbles. They reconstruct the bridge with iron and steel, but they bend and the bridge collapes again. Finally, the two of the them build the London Bridge with gold and silver. However, unfortunately, even that cannot hold the bridge and it collapses the third time.

Hey Diddle Diddle - Purple once has a funny dream. He sees a cow jumping over the moon, a dish running away with a spoon and a dog having great fun seeing so much fun. He also sees himself walking on the moon.

Chubby Cheeks - Purple Turtle has a friend who is very cute. She has chubby cheeks, dimpled chin, rosy lips and neatly arranged pair of teeth. Her curly hair makes her look like a doll and thus she is her teacher's favourite in school.

A wise old owl - Purple wants to be like the wise old owl that lives in an oak tree. The owl sees a lot but speaks very less. Since he speaks very less, he hears a lot. This made the old owl very wise. Purple also wants to see more, hear more and speak very less.

It's raining, it's pouring - It is raining heavily outside. Purple sees an old man reclining on a chair and snoring. The old man is feeling sleepy and thus goes to his bed to sleep. However, his head bumps against the bed and he suffers an injury that prevents him from waking up the next morning.

Pussycat Pussycat - Purple Turtle asked Pussycat where it had been. It said it went to London to look at the queen. When Purple Turtle asked what it did there, Pussycat said it frightened a little mouse under the queen's chair.

Pop goes the weasel - In this rhyme, Purple Turtle shows where all his money goes and how has fun with his friend the monkey, who waits for him at his home every night.

If you are happy and you know it - Purple Turtle and his friends have a unique way of showing they are happy. When they are happy they clap their hands, stomp their feet and shout hurray!

Three little kittens - Mama Turtle sees three little kittens apologizing their mummy for losing their mittens. Mummy cat says the kittens will not get the pie she is baking as they have lost their mittens. They go out and find the mittens, which are now dirty. Mummy cat says they will not get the pie as they have soiled the mittens. So the kittens quickly wash them off.

Ten in the bed - Purple and ten of his friends are sleeping on the bed when he asks them to roll over. Soon one of them fall down and only nine are left. In a similar way, one by one all of them fall over rolling from the bed and in the end only Purple is left all alone on the bed.

Five old speckled frogs - Purple Turtle finds five speckled frogs having a good time. The frogs sit on a speckled log eating delicious insects. But one after the other the frogs started jumping into the water gradually leaving the log empty.

Bingo Song - Purple Turtle is a farmer, who has a dog called Bingo. He was playful and mischievous and Purple had great fun playing with him.

I'm a little teapot - Purple Turtle called over his friends to his house and showed them his new teapot that was short and stout, it had little handles and eveytime it was hot, the teapot would shout out.

Head, shoulder, knees and toes - Purple Turtle introduces his friends to the different parts of the body. He teaches them what head, knees, toes, eyes, nose and many more.

Purple Turtle learns about the five fingers of his hand in a fun-filled way. Papa Turtle is the thumb, Mama Turtle is the second finger, Brother Turtle the middle finger, Sister Turtle the ring finger and baby Purple is the index finger.

Mary had a little lamb - Little Turtle Mary has a little lamb whose fleece is white as snow. Wherever Mary goes, the lamb is sure to follow. One day the sheep followed her to school and made the kids there laugh and play. The teacher soon sent it away. But the lamb refused to go anywhere and stayed near the school, patiently waiting for Mary to appear and follow her back home.

One, Two, Buckle my shoe - Purple Turtle and all his friends sit down and decide to learn numbers in a different way.

Old MacDonald had a farm - Purple Turtle, along with his friends goes to Old Macdonald's farm and has a great time enjoying with the cows, pigs, sheep and chicks.

Little Bo Peep - Purple Turtle's friend Little Bo Peep, the shepherdess, has lost her sheep and is very sad. But Purple Turtle asks her not to worry and says they would follow her home. Little Bo Peep is not convinced and after dreaming about her sheep, she goes searching for them. She does find them but is unhappy to see that they had left their tail somewhere behind. She goes to hunt for them.

Jack N Jill - Purple Turtle is our little Jack and he climbs up the hill with his friend Jill only to fall and tumble down. But he is a superhero because he gets up, goes home and mends his head with vinegar and brown paper.
