Jerry Espenson insists on defending himself in court when he's accused of aggravated assault after a run-in with a bully. Meanwhile, Alan Shore and Shirley Schmidt try to help an underaged pregnant girl obtain a judicial by-pass for an abortion.

Usual partners are mixed up when Carl and Denny travel to Virginia to defend an officer who is accused of murder after shooting a man on death row whose lethal injection caused him to have seizures.

Shirley and Sack’s intimate Thanksgiving turns into a dysfunctional family affair when the entire firm plus Edwin Poole, his streetwise foster child, and the hated Melvin Palmer weasel an invitation.
