The Lancaster, the most famous bomber during WWII, was used on many raids on Germany, including the '1000 Bomber' raid on Cologne, as well as many night bombing missions. It could carry bombs weighing 22,000 pounds and fly up to 20,000 feet. It is said that the Lancaster was the greatest single factor in winning WWII.
