All Creatures Great and Small

A medical scare keeps James’ feet firmly on the ground and Siegfried and Carmody get their wires crossed over an animal. Meanwhile, Helen steps in to help an old family friend and Mrs. Hall has a spot of bother when she decides to help with the war effort.

Helen realizes that James needs to get the hang of life with a baby and James ends up taking Jimmy out on his rounds. James and Carmody help a farmer with a stubborn calf and Helen is surprised to find Jenny with a new best friend. Mrs. Hall starts her job as an Air Raid Precaution Warden and tries to keep the peace between Siegfried and the overly officious Mr. Bosworth when tragedy strikes.

It’s baby Jimmy’s Christening day. There’s a surprise announcement from Tristan and Siegfried makes a promise to himself that he might struggle to keep. A furry friend helps Helen to find common ground with James’ mother.

Tristan’s first meeting with Carmody doesn’t go quite to plan. They are dispatched to find an unexpected animal on the loose in Pumphrey Manor, in the hope that they’ll be able to put their differences aside. James struggles to treat a sick cow when unresolved feelings about the war re-surface when he least expects it. Helen tries to support James.

Carmody is offered an exciting opportunity, leaving Siegfried wondering whether he’s holding back his protégé. Mrs. Hall must deal with an unlikely emergency in Darrowby--and an overzealous Mr. Bosworth. Meanwhile, both Siegfried and Carmody have to pay attention to their romantic pursuits.

James starts to behave very out of character while examining Tricki and his health takes a turn for the worse. Helen rushes him to bed, leaving Jimmy with Mrs Pumphrey and an already overburdened Mrs. Hall. Meanwhile, Siegfried, needing an extra hand in Carmody’s absence, recruits a reluctant Tristan to help.

Mrs. Hall is shaken when bad news arrives about Edward’s ship. Tristan struggles to convince a cantankerous pigeon fancier to help him with a special wartime mission. Skeldale House readies to celebrate Jimmy’s birthday.
