Jacques (Vincent Lindon), a journalist with a reputation for impartiality, is recruited by the Vatican to determine the legitimacy of a Marian apparition in a small French village. He meets the young woman, Anna, who claims to have seen the Virgin Mary. In a quest to uncover the truth, Jacques' belief system is profoundly shaken.
