Mister Rogers' Neighborhood 1979 - 2001

It's a rainy day in the Neighborhood, and Mister Rogers talks about some things children can do when it's raining. In Make-Believe, there's a lesson in Tai Chi and Mister Rogers shows some Tai Chi movements that he has learned.

Mister Rogers visits Sea World where he sees how "Shamu the Whale" swims and plays with his trainers, and he shows a video of fish swimming in an aquarium. In Make-Believe, Lady Elaine Fairchilde opens her "Always Happy Dance Studio."

Tap dancer Sam Weber visits with Mister Rogers and In Make-Believe, to show how he expresses different feelings through his dancing. But Lady Elaine wants her dance studio to be "Always Happy." Mister Rogers shows how people make shoes.

Mister Rogers' visits the Dance Theatre of Harlem and learns about the hard work that it takes to be a dancer - and the reward that comes from that. In Make-Believe, Lady Elaine realizes that dance can be about all kinds of feelings.

Mister Rogers visits a weaver to see how she weaves on a loom. In Make-Believe, there's a ballet lesson and an Eastern European folk dancing troupe performance. There are lots of ways to dance but they all take practice and discipline.

Mister Rogers visits an antique car show for a chance to talk about how cars can be alike and different, just like so many other things in this world. In Make-Believe, Queen Sara and Mayor Maggie decide to trade jobs for a day.

Mister Rogers shows books in different languages. In Make-Believe, the Queen and Mayor are trading places, dressing in each other's clothes and learning about each other's jobs. Mister Rogers helps children know that "everyone is fancy."

A visit with a dog helps Mister Rogers show how real dogs and the character Bob Dog, are the same and different. In Make-Believe, the children are learning about changing and growing with a video of a caterpillar turning into a butterfly.

Mister Rogers brings a clown mask and talks about clowns. There are visiting clowns In Make-Believe, too. Queen Sara and Mayor Maggie learned a lot about each other from switching jobs, but decide they're happier in their own jobs.

Mister Rogers and Betty Aberlin visit the circus to see acrobats, elephants and tigers. They go backstage to watch a clown put on his make up. In Make-Believe, Daniel's friends help him overcome his fear of clowns and other costumes.
