After Whitaker struggles with a patient, Samira vows to keep him off the path that led to her own problems navigating emergency medicine. Nick Bradley’s teen overdose case sets off a powder keg of emotions – as his parents cling to hope.

Bets are taken on the whereabouts of a stolen ambulance, while Santos learns a hard lesson, and Whitaker helps to tame “The Kraken.”

Both Santos and Collins deal with their own moral – and legal – quandaries. Samira’s careful approach earns praise from patients – and reproach from Robby. Javadi unintentionally upends McKay’s attempts to help an unhoused patient.

While Robby handles an ultimatum from the hospital, Mel, Javadi, and Collins each handle unique mother-daughter dynamics.

As dozens of critical patients flood the ER, Robby and his team struggle to keep up amid quickly diminishing supplies. Later, Javadi's fast thinking impresses a key surgeon, and Mel keeps tabs on an injured mother and son.

As the night shift begins and the death toll rises, Robby refuses to give up on a mass casualty victim – even after Abbott intervenes. Unable to find an attending, Santos and Samira each attempt risky moves to save their patients’ lives.

As the ER begins to quiet down, Robby struggles to cope with a loss, while Abbott and Samira are challenged by a patient’s rapidly deteriorating condition.

As the day shift prepares to finally head home, Robby resorts to unorthodox methods to convince the father of a critically ill teen to allow treatment.
