The Great American Recipe

The Great American Recipe is back with eight of the best home cooks from across the country gathering in the barn to share their most treasured recipes. First, they have 60 minutes to introduce themselves to the judges with a recipe that represents their perfect meal. Then, the home cooks will have 60 minutes to prepare a dish that represents the region of the United States that they call home.

It’s the second week of competition on The Great American Recipe, and the eight home cooks are back in the barn for two more rounds of cooking. In the first round, they’ll be asked to create a dish that shows support for someone in a time of need or celebration. In the second round, it’s holiday time as the cooks prepare their favorite holiday recipes for the judges.

Oven temperatures aren’t the only thing rising, because week three is all about baking. The home cooks must first make a dish showcasing freshly-made bread, followed by one-dozen of their tastiest fruity treats for the annual Great American Recipe bake sale. Who will rise to the challenge?

In week four of competition on The Great American Recipe, the six remaining home cooks must step outside their comfort zone in two rounds of cooking. In the first round, a brand new challenge tasks each home cook to prepare one of the judges’ recipes. In the second round, the home cooks swap recipes with each other and try to put their own personal spin on a fellow home cook’s dish.

In week five of the competition, the home cooks have two rounds of cooking left to earn their spot in the finale. In round one, the home cooks have 60 minutes to make a dish from a family tradition. Then in round two, the home cooks prepare heirloom recipes that have been treasured by their families for generations before the three finalists are announced.

In round one, the home cooks prepare a hometown recipe inspired by their loved ones. Then in round two, they have three hours to create their very own version of the Great American Recipe.  After creating an entree, side, and dessert that represents their story, the finalists join judges Tiffany Derry, Francis Lam, and Tim Hollingsworth to taste and critique their final meals.
