Getting On

There have been some changes on ward B4; Kim has been on a retraining course following the incident with Hilary, who's been on a self appraisal journey which has seen him lose weight but still not accept Kim's apology. Elsewhere, Pippa's stool research is onto its next phase while Den is juggling money alongside her off-on relationship with Hilary.

A new admission brings new problems. Peggy, admitted from a local care home, shows signs of bruising but she has dementia and it's not clear who is to blame for her injuries. Meanwhile, Kim's Dave is in trouble and has lost his job forcing Kim to take a softer approach on her resignation threats. Drilling noises suggest the new wing is underway and expectations rise.

Hilary (still not accepting Kim's apology) persuades her to do a night shift on B4 when he finds himself short staffed with no notice. Kim looks forward to a quiet few hours, but when Den arrives it's not long before a full blown row erupts. Pippa is treating a patient who gives her pause for thought about her own dwindling fertility.

Hilary's Icing the Cake initiative is spreading, but not always successfully. Best behaviour has a habit of bringing out the worst. Pippa has a lunch appointment with Peter while Den and Hilary have a difficult matter to deal with. Kim embarks on a vendetta of a different kind. Will they ice each others' cakes?

A graduate nurse drives a wedge between Den and Kim, and Hilary's elaborate new hand washing protocols hardly help matters. Meantime, Pippa suffers the indignity of re-applying for her own job. Luckily Kim and Den find a way of cheering things up, even if Dr Moore may not see the funny side.

Nurse of the Year time at King Edward's sees Den pushing the boat out, little wonder Kim has unwisely banked on her annual assessment with Nurse Flixter being a formality with a modest pay rise in the bank. Pippa's future is under scrutiny for different reasons as she reflects on life away from B4. Mrs Fyvie's decline worsens and there is finally some news about the new wing.
