In the 16th century, Suleiman the Magnificent ruled the greatest Islamic empire the world has ever known. The center of power was Topkapi palace, where the legendary Ottoman Harem lived and served. Hundreds of women from all over the empire were the personal slaves of the Sultan, but here, sex could equal power. This is the story of those women, and of the closed and secret world of the Harem.
