Meet Bondita a small girl from a viallage in Bengal, who questions the norms of society in her own innocent way, driven on by how society and her family treats her widowed mother.

Driven by the taunts of a British man in London, Aniruddha decides to return home to Tulsipur to change society for the better.

Aniruddha's return sparks off the existing ocnflict between his father Binoy and his uncle Trilochan. WHile the former wants him to go back to London and be a barrister, the later wants him to stay in India and take on the roles of the Zamindar.

Bondita is desperate for the reply to her letter, which accidentaly reaches Aniruddha. Aniruddha is impressed with the progressive thinking of the girl who sent the letter.

Aniruddha is impressed with Bondita's letter but it irks Saudamini. Meanwhile, it is revealed that Bondita's wedding has been arranged with an old man, in exchange for money which he plans to use to pay Sampurna's dowry.

Bondita's haldi ceremony has started and she is eagerly waiting for the reply to her letter. When the letter doesn't come she refuses to proceed with the ceremony and tries to run away. At the last moment a letter from Aniruddha arrives.

Having being lied to by her uncle, Bondita agrees to get married. Meanwhile, Anirudhha plans to propose to Saudamini. He first decides to attend Sourav's wedding where Bondita's wedding will also happen.

Bondita's uncle and aunt intend to drug her so that she remains unconscious while getting her married off to a man old enough to be her grandfather. Their plans fail when Aniruddha notices Bondita getting drugged. What's going to happen next?

Anirudhha tries to stop the wedding but Munshi Kaka convinces him to leave by telling him he'll take care of everything. When Bondita's husband dies at the function, his family demands Bondita be burnt on the funeral pyre as a Sati.

Aniruddha tries to prevent Bondita from being burnt alive as a Sati. But the villagers are adamant that there is no place in the society for a widowed mother and a widowed daughter. Desperate, Anirudhha marries her to save her from death.

Aniruddha arrives home and everyone in his family is furious with what he has done. They cannot believe he would taint the family name like this. Bondita doesnt realize the storm she has inadvertently caused and tries to interact with her in-laws.

While Bondita is feeling happy and exploring the house with Behari, Anirudhha is in despair not knowing what to do and how to explain to everyone why he did what he did. Meanwhile Somnath informs Saudamini about Anirudhha's marriage.

Binoy tricks Aniruddha into thinking he is on Ani's side and gets him drunk. He sends him off to meet Saudamini and orders Munshi to get rid of Bondita by calling the widows from Brindavan to take Bondita away.

The widows from Brindavan arrive and Munshi pays them to take Bondita away. He tricks Bondita into thinking she is going to visit her mother. Meanwhile, a drunk Aniruddha tries to talk to Saudamini and explain what happened.

Aniruddha finds out his father's plan from Sourav and rushes off to save Bondita. Bondita realizes she is being tricked and tries to make a run for it but get captured and taken on the boat. Aniruddha arrives at the last moment.

Bondita is scared to sleep alone on her first night in the new house. She finally falls asleep and next morning realizes she has wet her bed in her sleep.

At the riverside, Sampurna helps out Bondita. Bondita is missing and Aniruddha thinks his father has a hand in it. Meanwhile, Bondita returns from the riverside and finds a solution to her stink problem.

Bondita gets on the good side of Trilochan Kaka by virtue of her respect for traditions. Meanwhile, Saudamini sends back all the gifts and letter she had received from Aniruddha over the years. Aniruddha is heartbroken.

Trilochan Kaka has arranged for all the remaining rituals for Anirudhha and Bondita. Bondita gets ready but ends up looking clownish as she doesnt know how to dress up.

Aniruddha refuses to take part in any of the post wedding rituals. Bondita gets upset as her mother had said she will come after the rituals are complete. Later, Anirudhha realizes the letter he had received and appreciated so much was from Bondita.

Aniruddha promises Bondita that he will bring her mother to live with them. Trilochan and Binoy lose their cool over this and Trilochan agrees to allow this only if Aniruddha agrees to his condition.

Seeing Aniruddha taking part in all the rituals without complaint, Binoy is worried that they will have to agree to bring Bondita's mother to their home. But Trilochan has another trick up his sleeve.

Bondita is elated that she will meet her mother. Saudamini cant help herself and sneaks into Anirudhha's house to see for herself the siren who stole Anirudhha from her. Will Saudamini and Bondita come face to face?

Saudamini is convinced that Bondita is not a wife but a toy for Aniruddha and once he is bored, he will leave her aside and be with Saudamini. Meanwhile, Bondita, Sampurna, Sourav and Aniruddha set off for Bondita and Sampurna's home.

Bondita finally meets her mother. Amidst the tearful reunion, Aniruddha asks her to come and live with them. She tries to tell Aniruddha she cannot go.
