Landscape Artist of the Year

The first heat takes place in Hampton Court, where 8 artists are lined up in front of the palace's baroque east front.

At Mount Snowdon the artists hope to impress judges Tai Shan Schierenberg, Kate Bryan and Kathleen Soriano, and are joined by 50 wildcard artists.

The third heat takes place in Bristol, where pods are lined up on a terrace overlooking the Clifton Suspension Bridge

In the fourth heat of Landscape Artist of the Year Stephan Mangan is at St Pancras Basin where eight artists are lined up along the canal overlooking the busy train lines into Kings Cross and St Pancras stations.

In the fifth heat Stephan Mangan is in North Wales, with eight artists lined up in front of one of the region's historic slate quarries, for a chance to win a spot in the semi final.

The last heat takes place in Bristol, where 8 artists are lined up along the city's bustling harbourside.

The winners of all six heats, together with the winner of the wildcard competition, fight it out under the watchful eye of judges Tai Shan Schierenberg, Kate Bryan and Kathleen Soriano, who will select just three artists to go through to the final round of the competition.

Three artists have made it through to the last round of the competition, which is held on this tenth anniversary year at one of Britain's most iconic landscapes - Stonehenge. The prize they're competing for is a 10,000 pound commission for the Courtauld Gallery, to create a landscape of the South of France inspired by painters Monet, Cezanne and Van Gogh.
