Under the Power

Yuan Jinxia is about to be charge of a mysterious case, but Lu Yi suddenly appears, claiming that the Embroidered Uniform Guards will take care of it and asks the Department Six to opt out. Yuan Jinxia is not convinced and bets Lu Yi that Department Six will close the case before the Embroidered Uniform Guards do.

Yuan Jinxia and Lu Yi are both chasing after a　man named Cao Kun. They are aware of the same clue. Yuan Jinxia tries to get it, however she has no choice but to hand it to Lu Yi.

Cao Kun is killed. With Yuan Jinxia's help, Lu Yi finds what he wanted from Cao Kun. The emperor wants Lu Yi to travel to the South to do further investigation, and Department Six shall be his assistance. Yuan Jinxia, her master Yang Chengwan and her partner Yang Yue go to the South in represent of Department Six.

On the ship to the South, some trunks with birthday gifts are gone. Yuan Jinxia and Yang Yue are framed to be the thieves, and Lu Yi promises to prove their innocence by finding out the real thief. While they are investigating, there comes the ghost ship! Lu Yi, not believing the existence of ghost ship, brings Yuan Jinxia to board it.

Lu Yi and Yuan Jinxia find that the ghost ship is a trick to allow the real thief of the gift trunks to hide them. The real thief, Sha Xiuzhu, is arrested. They find some trunks back, but two are missing. A man in black appears and tries to save Sha Xiuzhu, but Lu Yi stops him. The man in black escapes and takes out the missing two trunks at a shore.

The party reaches Yangzhou. The man in black tried to save Sha Xiuzhu is named Xie Xiao, the young master of Wuan Gang. In order to save Sha Xiuzhu, Xie Xiao steals Yuan Jinxia's badge. However, after knowing that Yuan Jinxia used to helped him in childhood, Xie Xiao returns the badge to her, and the two become friends.

Lu Yi makes a deal with Shangguan Xi, Xie Xiao's fiancé, to exchange the two gift trunks with Sha Xiuzhu's freedom. With a notebook in one of the trunks, Lu Yi successfully clears the mission assigned by the emperor. However, a huge amount of government funds is gone. The emperor orders Lu Yi to find it back.

Yuan Jinxia helps Lu Yi investigate the lost government funds. They find a man named Zhou Xianyi suspicious, and there might be some connections between him and Shangguan Xi. Furthermore, it was Wuan Gang that helped ship the funds. Yuan Jinxia is aware of a woman named Zhai Lanye and decides to investigate her.

Zhou Xianyi is killed. Lu Yi and Yuan Jinxia talk to Zhai Lanye, realizing that Zhou Xianyi used to be her lover, and Zhou Xianyi stole a part of the government funds to set her free. Zhai Lanye asks Lu Yi and Yuan Jinxia to find out the murderer of Zhou Xianyi. Xie Xiao tells Yuan Jinxia that a theatrical troupe named Chunxi team might be a clue to the murder.

Lu Yi and Yuan Jinxia enter Chunxi team as apprentices. Yuan Jinxia finds the new leader of Chunxi team suspicious, and follows him to an abandoned courtyard. When she goes back there again with Lu Yi, they find the body of Chunxi team's former actress, Yun Zheyue, who died long ago and shared the same cause of death with Zhou Xianyi.

Xie Xiao confesses to Shangguan Xi that he fells in love with Yuan Jinxia, and asks his father to propose in represent of him. On the other hand, Lu Yi and Yuan Jinxia find a new clue to solve the death of Yun Zheyue and Zhou Xianyi, so they plan to lure the killer to show up.

It is Zhai Lanye who killed Yun Zheyue and Zhou Xianyi. After confessing the murder, Zhai Lanye pretends to kill herself, and goes to see Yan Shifan, son of the Grand Secretariat as well as her master. Lu Yi and Yuan Jinxia keep looking for the lost government funds, but are framed by Yan Shifan.

Yan Shifan uses Yuan Jinxia to test Lu Yi, and Lu Yi, in order to win Yan Shifan's trust, pretends to molest Yuan Jinxia. The nest morning, Xie Xiao proposes to Yuan Jinxia, and Lu Yi is mad about that. Yuan Jinxia asks Lu Yi to help her find her families, and he promises her.

The case of lost government funds is closed and Lu Yi is promoted. However, Wuan Gang is in trouble. Yuan Jinxia and Yang Yue help Xie Xiao and Shangguan Xi to win a competition, and Lu Yi saves Yuan Jinxia when she is in danger. Yang Yue comforts Shangguan Xi, who is sad about Xie Xiao's affection to Yuan Jinxia, and the two become closer.

Wuan Gang's members are attacked by a group of Japanese pirates. Lu Yi, Yuan Jinxia and Xie Xiao, while investigating, are led to a place named Longdan Village, and get in danger.

Lu Yi and Yuan Jinxia meet a man named Lan Qingxuan, and get to know that over the past few months, some villagers of Longdan Village disappeared mysteriously, and there is a group of crazy strong people attacking the villagers.

The next day, the four are attacked. Lan Qingxuan runs away, but when Lu Yi, Yuan Jinxia and Xie Xiao return to Longdan Village safely, Yuan Jinxia finds Lan Qingxuan being bound, and he tells her that the villagers plan to put them into a well as sacrifices.

Yuan Jinxia jumps into Suolong Well to find Lu Yi and Xie Xiao. She meets a man there, and he asks her to call him Uncle Bagger. He tells Lu Yi and Yuan Jinxia that the group of crazy strong people are controlled by a kind of poison. Lu Yi also learns that the leader of the Japanese who attacked them is a pirate named Mao Haifeng.

Yan Shifan orders Zhai Lanye to tell Mao Haifeng that the Embroidered Uniform Guards are aware of him. Mao Haifeng, after knowing that Suolong Well is destroyed, orders his man to ruin Longdan Village. When Lu Yi, Yuan Jinxia, Xie Xiao and Uncle Bagger get back to the village, Mao Haifeng is there, and he fights with Lu Yi.

Mao Haifeng ruins the village and takes away Uncle Bagger. Lu Yi is poisoned in order to protect Yuan Jinxia. Yuan Jinxia tries to find an acquaintance of Uncle Bagger who could save Lu Yi's life, and the two meet Mao Haifeng again in an inn. Yuan Jinxia asks Mao Haifeng to take them to Zhenjiang's boundary, in exchange of the drawing of making her pistol.

Lu Yi, Yuan Jinxia and Uncle Bagger successfully escape from Mao Haifeng. They find the acquaintance of Uncle Bagger, a lady named Lin Ling. Yuan Jinxia bags her to save Lu Yi's life, but Lin Ling tells Yuan Jinxia that the only way to save Lu Yi's life is to sacrifice someone else's life.

Yuan Jinxia decides to save Lu Yi with her own life. Yang Yue, Shangguan Xi and Xie Xiao come as well. Lin Ling finds that Yuan Jinxia is posioned, too.

In order to save Lu Yi's life, Yuan Jinxia decides not to detoxify herself. Lin Ling and Uncle Bagger try to find a way to save her. However, knowing that she is going to die soon, Yuan Jinxia leaves with a note left. The group are very worried about her and try hard to find her.

Lu Yi finds Yuan Jinxia, and Lin Ling successfully finds a way to save her life. However, Mao Haifeng takes a group of Japanese to attack them, Yang Yue and Shangguan Xi fall down a cliff. On the other hand, the emperor fainted after having medicine supplied by Danqing Ge, where Lan Qingxuan is.

While trying to find Yang Yue and Shangguan Xi, Yuan Jinxia and Xie Xiao witness Mao Haifeng seeing Zhai Lanye. Yuan Jinxia tries to inform Lu Yi, who is asked to investigate Danqing Ge. That night, a member of Danqing Ge dies mysteriously, and his body disappears.
