Melissa (Marisa Hampton), in the process of having an abortion, decides at the last minute to keep her baby and give it to an adoption agency. He is adopted by Jimmy Colton (Kirk Cameron) and Susan Colton (Rebecca Rogers Nelson). Eighteen years later, Melissa (Dawn Long) approaches the adoption agency to get in touch with David (Raphael Ruggero), her biological son.
