In the Heian period, there's a second son of the Emperor, Hikaru Genji, who's known as the 'Shining Prince.' When he was 9 years old, a beautiful girl entered her inner court as the emperor's new wife. Genji has a premonition of his fate when he sees her.

Hikaru Genji, now 17 years old, keeps his childhood love a secret. While he and his high-ranking wife, Aoi, are at odds with each other, he hears about the residence of Rokujou, known as the most noble lady of our time.

Every time Hikaru Genji meets Rokujou, he becomes drowned in her beauty and depth of love.

After the death of the emperor, with a rapid growth of a political rival, a dangerous situation began to flow around Genji.

The lady of Kokiden tries to dethrone Genji, and suggests that he intends to rebel against Emperor Suzaku, and that he be exiled.

Hikaru Genji decides to leave the capital and go to Suma, a penal colony. It was the only way to protect those he loved.
