High school senior Jimmy Daley wants to be a professional musician, to his father's disappointment. Jimmy tries to prove he can make it L.A.'s music scene, pawning the law books his father gave him to buy an electric guitar for his jazz-rock band with wisecracking ladies' man Angelo Barrato. They get off to a shaky start, but soon prepare for a major talent contest that could be their big break.
