Tony Stockwell investigates the case of the trawler "The Gaul" that went missing in the North Sea in the 1970s. Only the bodies of four crew members have ever been found. Tony also helps Sandra Chisholm, the daughter of one of the missing crew members, to discover what may have happened to her father.

Her son Stephen, whom she had adopted out at birth, goes to Tony to find out more about his birth mother and any clues about the murderer who, to this day, has never been caught.
