A continental manhunt, a shipwreck, and prison could not stop William Tyndale from giving the English speaking church its first English language Bible. 75 years before the authorization of the King James Version of the Bible, William Tyndale gave his life as a martyr so that Christians could read and understand God's word themselves.

After half a century of preaching the gospel, Hudson Taylor and the China Inland Mission had brought more than 800 missionaries to mainland China, established 125 schools, and led over 20,000 people to Christ.

A mother to hundreds though she never married, through her Dohnavur Fellowship and orphanage, Amy Carmichael rescued children from the horrors of temple life in India. Despite suffering tragedy and injury, Carmichael served in India for 55 years.

William Carey left his home in England in 1793, never to return. His ministry in India for the next 41 years would earn him a reputation as "the father of modern missions." In his lifetime, Carey provided the Indian church with translations of the Bible into six languages.

Though Livingstone saw only a single convert during his time in Africa, his labor for the gospel would endure for generations. As a physician, explorer, and fierce opponent of the slave trade, Livingstone exemplified the sacrifice and commitment of a missionary heart.

Braving the cannibal tribes of the New Hebrides, Paton pressed on through tragedy and suffering, including the death of his wife and infant son, to plant an island church that thrives to this day.
