As the Earth becomes less inhabitable private and public institutions alike look for other options where humanity can thrive Artificial ecosystems on asteroids traveling close to Earth may be a viable option but this route comes with inherent dangers such as longterm exposure to the suns radiation

Space colonization may start with our own moon Being very close to the Earth getting material to and from the Moon would prove much simpler than further targets and the Earth would shield the Moon from a lot of cosmic radiation However new problems would arise as lunar night and day bring with them extreme temperatures

Mars has piqued the interest of private companies like SpaceX who believe humanity can colonize the planet within our lifetime To make this happen theyll have to solve some of the biggest problems that come with space travel such as the reusability of rockets and eventually terraforming
